Mr. Thomas Charlie "Tom" Harrell

Mr. Thomas Charlie Harrell age 89 of 194 Belton road, Mt. airy, NC widower of Mrs. Roxie Darnell Hill Harrell passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born April 7, 1924 in Carroll County, VA to the late Tom and Bessie Vipperman Harrell. He was a retired orchardist and was a veteran of the US Navy and the US Army having served during WWII. Surviving are a special nephew, T. J. Harrell, Cana, VA, a special great nephew, Tony Harrell, Cana, VA, several other nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Collins and Evaline Hiatt and six brothers, Arlis, Carlos, Roy, Dennis, Joe and Vestal Harrell. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Joey Smith and Rev. Joe Pyles. Burial will follow in Indian Grove Family Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted a the graveside by VFW Post 2019 Mt. Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 12:30 pm Saturday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home.
