Mr. Thomas Wayne Mitchell

Mr. Thomas Wayne Mitchell, age 70, of Dobson, NC passed away on Sunday morning March 30, 2014 at the Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mt. Airy. He was born in Surry County on June 25, 1943 to the late Harold Mitchell and to Stacie Holyfield Harlan. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Mitchell; his step father Kenneth L. Harlan. He was a member of New Home Church of Christ and was retired from the City of Winston Salem. Surviving are his Daughter and son-in-law Beverly Dawn and Rusty Angle of Mt. Airy; step children Cindy and Brad Wiggins of Pinnacle, Mona and Bruce Ferris of Madison, Terry Ward of Madison; one grandson Bradley Angle and fiancée Mandee Pennington; step grandchildren Amanda Legg, Anthony and Vickie Angle, Chad and Rebecca Angle, Chris Angle, Brandon Ferris, Trey Wiggins; thirteen great-grandchildren; his mother Stacie Holyfield Harlan of Siloam; one brother James Holyfield of Siloam. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday April 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens in Mt. Airy. Rev. Tom Delph and Rev. Bill Tucker will conduct the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. the time of his service.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030
