Mr. Warren Harden Wimbush, Sr., age 94 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on April 21, 1921 to the late Abe and Adeline Via Wimbush. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wimbush was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Ann Wimbush and Constance Renee Wimbush; five sisters, Rosa Belle Via, Lizzie Dixon, Lillie Dixon, Ethel Bowman and Addie Mae Pritchett; and three brothers, Lawyer, John and Lester Wimbush. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Iron Belt Christian Church where he had served as an Elder.
Mr. Wimbush is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annie Vaughn Wimbush of the home; four sons, Warren Harden Wimbush, Jr. of Stuart, Paul Michael Wimbush of Craigsville, Kenneth Lane Wimbush of Stuart and Fredrick Barry Wimbush of Stuart; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Dora Bowman of Martinsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Junior Wimbush officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home. Burial will follow in Iron Belt Christian Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
