Mrs. Althedar Maxine Edwards

Mrs. Althedar Maxine Edwards, 82 of Cana, VA passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Edwards was born in Carroll County on March 29, 1930 to the late Emmett and Elizabeth King Woods. She was a homemaker and a member of Fancy Gap Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Sue and Nathan Burcham of Cana and Janice Stevens of Mt. Airy; Four sons and daughters-in-law, Bernie and Gracie Edwards of Lowgap, Dennis and Sue Edwards of Elkin, Wade and Gail Edwards of Cana, Charles and Demeatrice Edwards of Cana; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Savonne Woods of Cana; three half sisters, Frances Woods, Audrey Woods and Sandra Woods all of Cana; two half brothers and sisters-in-law, Franklin and Janice Woods, Douglas and Judy Woods all of Cana. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Edwards; a grandchild, Justin Wade Edwards; a great grandchild, Robert Wade Sproule; a son-in-law, Robert Stevens; her step mother, Belle Woods; a sister, Kathleen Edwards; two brothers, Vestal and Rudy Woods; a half sister, Brenda Edwards; a step brother, Eugene Edwards. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Fancy Gap Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Gray Cooke and Rev. Richard Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
