Mrs. Alvie Jean Branson Morris, 70, of Stokesdale passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. She was born in Surry County on January 18, 1944 to the late, John Wesley and Tilda Jean Jones Branson. Mrs. Morris was a homemaker. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal Ann and Patrick Marshall; three grandchildren, Ashley Rene Marshall, Amber Jeanette Marshall, and Alex Dwight Marshall; three great grandchildren, Emma Leighann Davis, Seth Dillon Davis, and Brantley Ray Mabry; a sister and brother-in-law, Annie and Estel Cook of Mt. Airy; a brother, Elbert Branson of Mt. Airy; a brother-in-law, John Carter of Stokesdale; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Dwight Morris; four sisters, Betty Marsh, Josephine Cline, Myrtle Stokes, and Lorene Carter; two brothers, Howard and Thomas Branson. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in Crooked Oak Moravian Church Cemetery.
