Mrs. Annie Hubbard Tatum, age 73 of Stuart, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 at Fork Mountain Rest Home in Rocky Mount. She was born in Patrick County on February 25, 1941 to the late Samuel Robert and Rosa Eanes Hubbard. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tatum was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Tatum; three sisters, Vergie Pruitt, Nellie Shelton and Mary Howell; and four brothers, Benjamin, Arthur, Jess and James Hubbard. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and had retired from Bassett-Walker Industries with 35 years of service.
Mrs. Tatum is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael "David" Thornton of Stuart; two grandchildren, Shawn M. Thornton and Brandon C. Thornton; one sister, Agnes Williams of Stuart; one brother-in-law, Harvey Pruitt of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Douglas Ramsey and Pastor Derek Futrell officiating. Burial will follow in Nettle Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Donna Thornton.
