Mrs. Audene Gwyn Slate

Mrs. Audene Gwyn Slate, 68 of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, April 06, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on December 25, 1948 to the late Thomas David and Nancy Louella Dean Gwyn. Mrs. Slate was a homemaker and a member of Lighthouse Community Church. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Donald Slate of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Misty Slate, David and Amy Slate; four grandchildren, Jacob Slate, Kobe Slate, Kayson Slate, Kylan Slate; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Penny Gwyn of Mt. Airy; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Slate was preceded in death by a son; Gary Slate, three brothers; Richard, Harvey and Dennis Gwyn, five sisters; Rosie Johnson, Lorraine Galyean, Ila Hall, Ethel Slate, and Julie Hicks. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday April 8, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with services conducted by Rev. Johnny Easter. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy and other times at the home of Mike and Misty Slate.
