Mrs. Bernice Ayers Mabe age 90 of King, NC passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Golden Living Center. She was born October 15, 1921 in Carroll County, VA to the late Dewey and Ella McMillian Ayers. She was retired from Spencer's Inc.. Mrs. Mabe was a charter member of Woodland Baptist Church where she served as choir director and treasurer for many years. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Don Tickle, Greensboro, a son and daughter-in-law, Roy Clarence and Shelva T. Cockerham, Mocksville, five grandchildren and spouses, Darshan and Clint Hartgrove, King, Leah and Chuck Downing, Mocksville, Debra and Mike Geiger, Nashville, TN, Jeffrey and Angie Tickle, Mt. Airy, and Tamela Tickle, Greensboro, seven great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mabe was preceded in death by three brother, Clinton, Otis and Ralph G. (Tom) Ayers. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jonathan Hartgrove. The family will receive friends 12:30 pm Saturday until time of the funeral at Moody Funeral Home. Moody Funeral Service is serving the Mabe Family.
