Mrs. Bessie Virginia Marion Goings

Mrs. Bessie Virginia Marion Goings age 79 231 Lafayette Trail Mt. Airy, NC passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born December 30, 1932 in Carroll County, VA to the late Benjamin Franklin and Nellie Hawks Marion. Her husband of 50 years, Wallace Goings preceded her in death along with a brother, Junior Franklin Marion and a twin sister, Odessie Marion Puckett and brother-in-law, Tom Puckett. Mrs. Goings was a long time member of a member of New Life Baptist Church and was proud to be saved by the grace of God. Mrs. Goings was known for her beautiful flowers around her home and for her vegetables she raised and gave away to anyone who needed them. The family wishes for any friends or neighbors who knew her before her long illness to write those thoughts down and pass the note to us or express your thoughts during the funeral service. Mrs. Goings is survived by a son Jerry Goings of the home who was . also her loyal faithful caregiver all these years. She is also survived by another son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Nancy Goings, Winston-Salem, and by three grandchildren, Jack Goings, Jr, Mt. Airy, Jeremiah Goings, Cana, VA and Sheldon Goings, Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Joe Atkins and Rev. Kenneth Jessup. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 Friday at Moody Funeral Home where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family wishes to express our thanks for all the special friends, neighbors and caregivers who helped , showed kindness or their concern all these years. We wish a special thanks to Lowgap Nutrition Center, Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all the care and kind deeds done for our mother.
