Mrs. Bessie Lawson Wood

Mrs. Bessie Lawson Wood, age 96 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on September 30, 1917 to the late Tommy and Susan Holt Lawson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Landers Wood; a son, Douglas Wood; two brothers, Hobert and David Lawson; and three sisters, Ethel East, Grace Craddock and Louise Lawson.
Mrs. Wood is survived by three daughters, Peggy Wood, Marie W. Hall and husband, David, Shirley W. Yopp and husband, Raymond, all of Stuart; a daughter-in-law, Ann Wood of Stuart; four grandchildren, Amy Lawson and husband, Jason, Amanda Payne and husband, Charles, Michael Wood, Kevin Wood; a step-granddaughter, Sara Soto and husband, Luis; and a special niece, Bennie Ruth Bowman of Claudville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Shaun Draughn officiating. Burial will follow in Stateline Cemetery.
