Mrs. Betty Joan Melton Durham

Mrs. Betty Joan Melton Durham, age 69, of Elkin, NC passed away on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on June 7, 1946 to the late Archie Melton and Myrtle Hayes Melton Renegar. She was a member of Gum Orchard Baptist Church and worked on her family farm. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Dean Durham; daughter Vickie Durham Willey; sister Hilda Holyfield. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Dean and Payge Durham of Elkin; grandchildren Hayley Durham and Fiancé Jacob Zurita, Garrett Durham, Justin Willey, Sophie Williams, Eli Williams, Sadie Williams; great grandchild Coton Willey; brother-in-law Leon and wife Barbara Holyfield. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday December 27, 2015 at Gum Orchard Baptist Church with burial in the Zephyr Cemetery. The Family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
