Mrs. Betty Lois Snow Martin

Mrs. Betty Lois Snow Martin age 68 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center after a ten year battle with aplastic anemia (a rare blood disease). Mrs. Martin was born in Surry County on October 28, 1944 to James Robert and Cassie Mae Venable Snow. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend to so many who will be dearly missed. Surviving are her devoted husband, Kenneth Martin of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Lewis Spencer of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Kristine Martin; grandchildren, Christopher Spencer, Jessica Spencer and Joshua Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Jack Haymore of Dobson; Eva and Craig Southern and Frances and Dennis Collins all of Mt. Airy; brother and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Mary Kaye Snow of Mt. Airy and Debbie Snow of Dobson; 11 nieces and 19 nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by brothers, Don Snow, Kenny Snow and Johnny Snow. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until the hour of the service. The family would like to express a special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the nurses at Northern Hospital Day Surgery for their exceptional care given to Mrs. Martin during her illness.
