Mrs. Betty King McIntyre, 76, of Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born April 8, 1938, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Joseph Brewer and Elva Irene Tate King. Mrs. McIntyre retired from Cross Creek Apparel and was a devoted member of Crooked Oak Moravian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. Mrs. McIntyre is survived by her husband, Jack McIntyre of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Edwards, Kevin Bradley and Amy Edwards, and Marilyn Edwards, all of Cana, VA; a granddaughter, Rebecca Edwards of Cana, VA; a grandson, Joshua Duncan of Cana; a stepdaughter, Mary Garner of Greensboro; a stepson, Alan McIntyre of Seattle, WA; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Rich Katalina of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Shirley King of Spencer and Jack and Judy King of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McIntyre was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Ernest Edwards; a son, Ronnie Dale Edwards; three brothers, Joe Ed King, Jim King, and Bill King. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 6, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Crooked Oak Moravian Church, with the Rev. Gary Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the King Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, June 5, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their prayers, visits, cards, words of comfort, and acts of kindness during Betty's sickness and since her passing.
