Mrs. Betty Sue Owen

Mrs. Betty Sue Owen, 69 of Mt. Airy went home to rest and rejoice with her Friend and Savior, Jesus Christ Monday, March 16, 2015 and to be with her family that went home before. She was born in Surry County on July 25, 1945 to the late Patrick W. and Eva T. Bobbitt. Betty was a loving wife and mother, best friend, homemaker, auto detailer, landscaper, painter, broken heart healer and caregiver. Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Richard G. Owen; son, Patrick Owen; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara "Nell" and Jesse Sams; nieces, Bardee Crappel and Kristy Evans, and a nephew, Cannon Sams. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Donald "Don" Bobbitt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wesley Flippen officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and nurses, Tina Leonard and Sandra Yates for the wonderful care given to Betty during her illness.
