Mrs. Billie Jean Childress Oakley

Mrs. Billie Jean Childress Oakley, 55 of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Forsyth County on October 1, 1958 to Billy Childress and Linda McCormick Poff. Mrs. Oakley was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, James Oakley of the home; three sons, Michael Edwards of Hillsville, VA, Kevin Andrew and Steven James Oakley both of the home; two grandchildren; her mother and step father, Linda and Ronnie Poff of Mt. Airy; brothers and sister-in-law, Danny Childress of Mt. Airy, Tommy and Mavis Childress of Ararat, VA, Johnny Childress of King; a step brother, Chris Poff of Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Holy Cross Baptist Church with the Rev. Arlis Thomas and the Rev. Richard Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at Holy Cross Baptist Church.
