Mrs. Bonnie Lee Hawks Collins, 84, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Surry County on June 13, 1930 to the late Wilburn and Lillie Bryant Hawks. Mrs. Collins was a homemaker and a member of Community Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Collins and friend Ronald McMillian; sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis Collins and Marie, Roy Dale Collins and friend Mary Minor; grandchildren, Brent Collins, Douglas Collins, Crystal Trent, Ocean Collins, Jacqulin Collins, Roy Dale Collins, Jr.; great grandchildren, Brock Trent, Tori Collins, Emily Collins, and Mollie Trent; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger "Pinto" Hawks and Marie; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Thomas Collins, brothers, Robert Hawks, Virgil Hawks, and Edgar Bryant. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Bartley and the Rev. Kenneth Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in Community Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
