Mrs. Carrie H. Hiatt

Mrs. Carrie Susan Hiatt Hiatt, age 94 of Ararat, VA, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014. Mrs. Hiatt was born in Patrick County on June 16, 1920 to Isaac and Arminda Richardson Hiatt. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Margaret Hiatt, Ted and Dorothy Hiatt, Michael and Rita Hiatt and Mary Hiatt; twenty four grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Hiatt; a dear loving caregiver and former daughter-in-law, Grace Sheets;several nieces and nephews as well as a special niece, Estelle Wrede. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Hiatt; daughters, Louella Bowman and Leatrice Collins; sons, James Hiatt and McArthur Hiatt; sisters, Hattie Hiatt, Hazel Cline and Mabel Thomas and brothers, Arnold Hiatt, Earnest Hiatt and Carnie Hiatt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church by Teddy Ray Hiatt, David Hiatt and Rev. Arlis Thomas. Burial will follow in the Hiatt Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday two hours prior to the service.
