Mrs. Charlotte Ann Clark Spencer

Mrs. Charlotte Ann Clark Spencer, age 85 of Stuart and formerly of Woolwine, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Landmark Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on March 10, 1929 to the late William Bryan and Hollis DeHart Clark. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by one sister, Aylees Turner; and three brothers, William S. "Bill" Clark, Roger D. Clark and Thomas H. "Tommy" Clark. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Radford University. She was a member of Woolwine United Methodist Church and was a retired teacher with the Patrick County School System.
Mrs. Spencer is survived by her husband of 61 years, Algie L. Spencer of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Stuart Smith of Greensboro, North Carolina; one son, Jeff Spencer of Woolwine; four grandchildren, Morgan Owen and husband, John, Spencer Smith, Jacob Smith, and Molly Cribari and husband, Nathaniel; two brothers, Ray Lee Clark of Stuart and Michael Clark of Woolwine; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Woolwine United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of the service at the church, and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woolwine United Methodist Church, or to the Smith River Rescue Squad. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
