Mrs. Clemmie Elizabeth Cruise Martin

Mrs. Clemmie Elizabeth Cruise Martin, age 90 of Woolwine, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on October 31, 1923 to the late John Robert and Sally Turner Cruise. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, William Clyde Martin; a son, Larry Carl Martin; four sisters, Mary Pendleton, Emma Helms, Josie Belcher and Ruth Hylton; and three brothers, James, Hoy and Jess Cruise. She was retired from J.P. Stevens and was a longtime member of Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Martin is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bernice Clint and Inez Martin of Woolwine; a daughter-in-law, Linda Martin of Stuart; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandson; and two brothers, Elmer Cruise of Texas and Alfred Cruise of Bassett.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Donnie Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 122, Woolwine, Virginia 24185.
