Mrs. Dawn Elaine Belton Whitney

Mrs. Dawn Elaine Belton Whitney, age 78 of Charlotte passed away on Sunday May 17, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Whitney was born in Surry County, December 18, 1936, the daughter of the late Archie and Nanabet Johnson Belton. Mrs. Whitney was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was retired from ERA-Hawkins Realty in Charlotte. Surviving are her husband, Donald H. Whitney, Sr.; her sons, David Whitney and his wife, Margaret, and Donald H. Whitney, Jr.; her daughter-in-law and the Mother of Donald's children, Joy Whitney; three grandchildren, Virginia Tack, Timothy Whitney, and Lindsay Mariah Whitney; her great grandson due in June, Gabriel Tack; a sister, Peggy Chilton, and a brother-in-law, Bob Dean. In addition to her parents Mrs. Whitney was preceded in death by her sister, Crystal Dean, and her brother-in-law, Walter Chilton. A graveside service will be held on Friday March 22, 2015 at 4:00 pm in Midkiff Cemetery in Mount Airy, NC with the service officiated by Pastor Perry Huffstetler of Mount Holly. The family will receive friends at the Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy, NC on Friday from 2:30 pm until time to proceed to the cemetery for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Atlanta, In Touch Ministries, 4400 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30338. The Whitney family plans to conduct a memorial service in Charlotte, NC on Monday, May 25, 2015. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy, NC is serving the Whitney family.
