Mrs. Doris "Marie" Edmonds Turner

Mrs. Doris "Marie" Edmonds Turner, 77, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Surry County on June 23, 1937 to the late Nancy Lizzie Simpson Edmonds. Mrs. Turner was retired Insurance Clerk from Sara Lee after 40 years of service, and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Michael McDaniel of Mt. Airy; two grandsons, Jason and Patrick McDaniel both of Mt. Airy; sisters, Dorothy White, Ruby Newman, and Mary Harvey all of Mt. Airy; twenty six nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wilbur Edwards Turner; brothers, Victor and Rex Edmonds. The family would like to thank Dr. Fiets and the Hugh Chatham Radiation Therapy Department, Dr. Susan Hines, Dr. Chris Thomas and Dr. Franklin Chen of Novant Health Oncology Specialists and staff of the Mt. Airy office, Dr. Catalin Burciu and staff of Blue Ridge Medical Group and especially the ICU-Critical Care 4th floor doctors and nurses of Northern Hospital of Surry County. The family requests, if desired, that memorials be made to the family at P.O. Box 692, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 to help defray past and pending medical expenses.
