Mrs. Doris Faye King Vernon

Mrs. Doris King Vernon, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Vernon was born August 1, 1934, to the late Walter Swain and Gillie Ruth Smith King. She was a charter member of Victory Baptist Church where she attended faithfully for 46 years. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Charles Vernon of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Alan Vernon and Wife Shelia; five grandchildren, Rigo Vernon and girlfriend Emma Garcia, Julie Stallings and husband C.J., Christian Vernon, Dylan Vernon, Carson Vernon; four great-grandchildren, Ashton Vernon, Albert Vernon, Andrew Vernon, and Curtis Joseph Stallings III; two sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Creed, and Mabel and Donald Shaw, brother and sisters-in-law, Stanley King and wife Joan, Jane King, Lois King. In addition to her parents Mrs. Vernon was preceded in death by a sister, Goldie France, and by two brothers, Newton and Winfred King. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday; December 10, 2017 at Victory Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Joey Jessup. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.
