Mrs. Dorothy Kelly Pilson

Mrs. Dorothy Kelly Pilson, age 92, who had enjoyed residing at the Landmark Center in Stuart for 5½ years, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Gladys, Virginia on December 20, 1919 and grew up in Altavista, Virginia. She was a daughter to the late William J. Kelly, Sr. and Frances Elizabeth Hall Kelly. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Roy Pilson; a son, Phillip Kelly Pilson; two brothers, Russell J. Kelly, Sr. and William J. Kelly, Jr.; and three sisters, Bernice Kelly Dudley, Violette Kelly Chisolm and Arlene Kelly Kilpatrick. She was 15 years old when she gave her heart to Jesus. She had been a longtime member of Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was a member of the choir and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Pilson Legge of Raleigh, North Carolina and Wanda Pilson Hennis of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina; three sisters, Patricia Kelly Charnock of Madison Heights, Virginia, Edith Kelly Frazier of Altavista, Virginia and Jean Kelly Woody of Lynchburg, Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Naomi M. Pilson of Stuart; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 12 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Ken Terry, Rev. Jim Churchwell and Rev. Jack Foley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
