Mrs. Dorothy Joyce York

Mrs. Dorothy Joyce York, age 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born February 15, 1926 to the late Crocket and Agnes Bouldin Joyce. Mrs. York attended Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Dyson of Reidsville; Glenda Manus of Mount Airy; Linda Shipman of Dobson, and Lois Slone and her fiancé, Jerry Harmon of Dobson; granddaughter, Jackie Bumgarner of North Wilkesboro; great grandchildren, Caitlin McGee, Olivia McGee and Cassie McGee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Osler York; her brother, Bill Joyce, and her grandson, Marty Marion. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM Friday, August 19, 2016 at Ivy Green Baptist Church with Reverend Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. York will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service.
