Mrs. Elizabeth Fulk Gates

Mrs. Elizabeth "Lib" Fulk Gates, age 83 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Gates was born in Surry County on September 10, 1931 to Frank and Sally Mitchell Fulk. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. Surviving are daughters and a son-in-law, Dianne and Doug Hooker; Kathy Collins and fiancé Johnny Arnder; a son, Tim Gates; a daughter-in-law, Susan Gates; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a special niece, Linda Parker and her beloved canine companion, Toby. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gates was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Gates; a son, Ricky Gates; sisters, Mary Sechrist, Maggie McBride, Ruth Throckmorton, Alice Harrell and Ethel Martin and by brothers, Ernie Fulk, Charlie Fulk, John Fulk and Moir Fulk. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church by Dr. David Sparks, Rev. Kelly Haynes and Rev. Randy Edwards. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Dianne Hooker at 219 Glory Lane. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
