Mrs. Elizabeth J. Ramey

Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Hawks Ramey, age 79 of Lowgap, passed away Tuesday, July 08, 2014 at Golden Living Nursing Center. Mrs. Ramey was born in Surry County on March 6, 1935 to Robert McCoy and Gladys Wood Hawks. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a member of Ladonia Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by all the family and many friends. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Diane W. Ramey; Larry and Sheila H. Ramey; grandchildren, Zachary Ramey and wife Debbie, Shannon Slate, Matthew Ramey and wife Melissa and Justin Hill; great grandchildren, Falisaty Tate, Luke Ramey, Adam Slate, Eli Ramey, Lane Ramey and Anna Ramey; and brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert P. Hawks, Jr. and Bobby Dean Hawks and wife Stella. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Virgil E. Ramey; and a brother, Ray Lee Hawks. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Ladonia Baptist Church by Rev. Tony Holder and Rev. Travis Sechrist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday beginning at noon.
