Mrs. Emily Dockery White Jenkins

On Tuesday, June 3, 2014, Heavens Gates opened wide as Mrs. Emily Dockery White Jenkins was welcomed to greet her Lord and Savior. She was born in Surry County on February 7, 1916, the last of fifteen children, to the late Martin Luther and Lucy Freeman Dockery. Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and a faithful member of Union Cross Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Barbara Ann White Hege and husband Robert of Greensboro and Billy Lee White and wife Irene of Elkin; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, her beloved husband, Johnny Jenkins preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday June 5, 2014 at Union Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burton with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 4, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home, 215 West Kapp Street Dobson, NC. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care North Bridge Street Elkin, NC 28621.
