Mrs. Emma Elizabeth "Libby" Edwards

Mrs. Emma Elizabeth "Libby" Gates Edwards, 63, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on February 14, 1950 to the late George Washington Gates and Betty Davis Gates Jones. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and was a member of Holy Cross Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Clay Eric Edwards of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Samantha and Brad Hull of Mt. Airy, Kathy and Jose Marquina of Mt. Airy, Gina and Jeff Burnette of Cana, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy Lee Senter, Jr. and Shelley of Mt. Airy; a step-daughter, Michelle Edwards of Mt. Airy; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Rev. Butch Holder of Mt. Airy; a brother, and friend, Dennis Gates and Phyllis Scales of Ararat, VA.; a step-father, Rev. George Junior Jones of Mt. Airy; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Yvonne Gates; three brothers, Robert Mcree Gates, George William Gates and Dale McCormick. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Holy Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Holy Cross Baptist Church.
