Mrs. Estelle Annis Cain Barker, 100, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on May 6, 1915 to the late Floyd and Pearlie Sutphin Cain. Mrs. Barker is survived by one daughter, Diann Barker Minton; one son, Doug Barker; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a son in-law, Norman Hall; a daughter-in-law, Carlene Barker; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lannie Lowe, Peggy Marion and Harlin, and Geraldine Richardson; one brother and a sister-in-law, Pete Cain and Hattie. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Barker; a daughter, Sylvia Hall; a son, Arthur “Buck” Barker; two sisters, Hilda Dean and Runnell Hicks; five brothers, Elwood Cain, Leonard Cain, Larn Cain, Delmar Cain and Alvie Cain; one son-in-law, Danny Minton; and two daughters-in-law, Linda Barker and Treva “Ann” Barker. Funeral service will be held at Moody Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. John Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in the Round Peak Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 6-8 at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Wanda Akers, for the love and tender care that she showed Estelle during her illness.
