Mrs. Esther Alexander Brown Lovill

Mrs. Esther Alexander Brown Lovill, 95 of Mt. Airy, widow of Robert Jones Lovill, Jr. passed away at Northern Hospital of Surry County on Friday, March 30, 2012. Mrs. Lovill was born in Concord, NC on August 19, 1916 to the late James Leon and Mary Zula Patterson Brown. She was a home maker and a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lovill is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Lovill Hooks and Dr. William Borden Hooks, Jr. of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jones Lovill, III and Elizabeth Johnson Lovill, of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Lovill Hooks and husband, Martin Paul Causley of Denver, CO, Dr. William Borden Hooks, III and wife, Brooke Owen Hooks of Wilmington, NC; Allen Johnson Lovill of Mt. Airy; great grandchildren, William Borden Hooks, IV, Margaret Grace Hooks and Robert Lovill Causley. In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Lovill was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Jones Lovill, IV. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery on Sunday, April 1, 2012 with the Rev. John Ferree officiating. The family will receive friends at Central United Methodist Church, parlor on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 1:00 PM until the time to leave for the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Central United Methodist Church, 1909 N. Main St., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to the Robert and Esther Lovill Scholarship Fund, c/o SCC Foundation, 630 S. Main St., Dobson, NC 27017.
