Mrs. Ethel Juanita Smith Mayes

Mrs. Ethel Juanita Smith Mayes Age 93 of Mt. Airy, NC passed away Saturday July 11, 2015 at the Twelve Oaks Retirement Nursing Home in Mt. Airy. Mrs. Mayes was born October 3, 1921 in Anawalt, WV to the late John E. and Ennis Taylor Smith. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Mayes was a homemaker and attended Pine Ridge Baptist Church. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Leftwich of Cana, Joyce and Greene Jones of Mt. Airy, Helen and Rex Hunter of Pilot Mountain, Louise Kincaid of Mt. Airy, Connie Prim of Mt. Airy and Norma and Avery Dixon of Lowgap; sons and daughter-in-law, Don and Tammy Barker of Cana and Roger R. Barker of Mt. Airy; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mayes was preceded in death by husbands, John Barker, and Bud Mayes; a son, Johnny Barker and a daughter, Donna Gay Golding. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 13, 2015, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Johnson and Rev. Randy Bartley officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 PM Monday at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.
