Mrs. Ettice Mae Reeves Short

Mrs. Ettice Mae Reeves Short age 91 of Mt. Airy, NC widow of Mr. Edward Short left this life on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born on August 6, 1922 to the late Richard L. and Pearl Thompson Reeves. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Martha Short and Benjamin F Tucker of Stoneville, and two sons, Edward Reeves Short of Chapel Hill and Robert Thomas Short of Mt. Airy, two grandchildren, Benjamin Bradford Tucker of Stoneville and Sarah Reeves Tucker of Madison. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Short was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Reeves Vaughn and a brother, Richard Thompson Reeves. Mrs Short graduated from Flat Rock School in 1940. She loved to play golf and was an avid bridge player. Mrs. Short was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Airy and spent many years as a volunteer at Northern Hospital of Surry County. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The services will be conducted by Dr. Roger Gilbert. The family will receive friends at the home, 529 Cross Creek Drive, Mt. Airy, NC immediately following the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Central Continuing Care, the staff of Northern Hospital and Mountain Valley Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of their mother. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 714 North Main Street, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to the Children's Home Society, PO Box 14608, Greensboro, NC 27415.
