Mrs. Evelyn Foley Newman

Mrs. Evelyn Foley Newman, age 85 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in Laurel Fork. She was born in Patrick County on October 5, 1928 to the late Richard Howard Foley and Grace Emma Handy Foley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Newman; a sister, Virginia Stewart; and two brothers, Richard Foley and James Ray Foley. She had attended Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mrs. Newman is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Guy Handy of Patrick Springs; two granddaughters, Sherry Lynn Handy of Bassett and Cheryl Renee Goard of Stuart; two great-granddaughters, Tara Sutphin and Carey Adkins; and one sister, Emma Mae Handy Smart and husband, Willie of Stuart.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Trent Wall officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 22099 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Stuart, Virginia 24171.
