Mrs. Florence Martha Phillips

Mrs. Florence Martha Phillips, 97 of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Mt. Airy where she resided for the last two and half years. Mrs. Phillips was born in Surry County on August 13, 1914. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of Golden Circle Sunday School Class which she loved and attended every Sunday while health permitted. Mrs. Phillips retired from Belton's Laundry after forty years of service. She is survived by three daughters, Gaynell White of Mt. Airy; Treva Barker and Shirley Williams both of Winston Salem; six grandchildren, Debra (Mark) Lawson, Robin (Kenny) Hutchens, Todd (Deanna) Barker, Steve (Annette) White, Marty Vause, Michelle Vaught; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Josie Watson of Twelve Oaks. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Phillips; two sons, Jack and David Phillips and four brothers. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Bailey Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Golden Living and especially recognize the workers on C Hall that took care of Florence daily.
