Mrs. Frances H. Ross

Mrs. Frances Lee Ross, age 82 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Northern Hospital. Mrs. Ross was born in Surry County on October 5, 1931 to Clifton Underwood and Mary Haynes. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by family and many friends. Surviving are her husband, Joe Ross; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Sam Collins; Rita and Carl Lampkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis and Mary Jenkins; Larry and Emma Jenkins; Timmy and Ivae Jenkins; Brenda Jenkins; step daughters and son-in-law, Jessica Ross and Jennifer and Danny Hooker; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; her step mother, Louise Underwood; half-brothers, Doug Underwood, Mark Underwood and Alan Underwood and a half-sister, Sheila Kendrick. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by sons, Gary Jenkins and Terry Jenkins, a daughter, Nelta Jenkins, a brother, Buster Haynes and by a half-brother, Donald Underwood. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jimmy McCraw and Chaplain Justin Nelson. Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
