Mrs. Franie Leona Hawks McMillian

Mrs. Franie Leona Hawks McMillian, age 94 of Cana, VA, passed away Monday, October 05, 2015 at Heritage Hall in Laurel Meadows. Mrs. McMillian was born in Carroll County on December 2, 1920 to Posey Lester and Arena Cagle Hawks. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Clayton Jones, JoAnn and Clarence Jones, Janice and Marlie Crotts and Brenda and Dave Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Karen McMillian; grandchildren, Brian, Brent and Faron Jones, Julie Burcham, Jamie Crotts, Melanie Webb, Kenny, Scottie and Dennis McMillian; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one step great grandchild, and a sister-in-law Essie Mayes of Cana. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McMillian was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Harley Raymond McMillian; a son, Donald McMillian; grandchildren, Kim Jones, Elizabeth M. Combs, Jeremy Crotts and Ashley Reynolds sisters Helen McMillian, Girtie McMillian and Edith Hawks and by four brothers Burton, Troy, Gurnie and Hardin Hawks . Funeral services will be held at Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Arwood Edwards and Rev. Greg Jones. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 12:30 PM until time for the funeral.
