Mrs. Geneva Virginia Barker Wilson

Mrs. Geneva Virginia Barker Wilson, age 90, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Wilson was born in Surry County on April 30, 1924 to Joe and Victoria Johnson Barker. She was a loving mother and grandmother was devoted to her family and church as long as her health allowed. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Robert Norman; a son, Jeff Wilson; granddaughter, Shannon Ray and Dr. Brian Ray; great grandchildren, Drayden Ray, Meredith Ray, Grayson Ray and Taygan Ray and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Odell Wilson; sisters, Maggie Shaw, Dinah Bowman, Margie Bowman, Pearlie Barker, Lizzie Kinzer and Beulah Johnson and brothers, Benny Barker, Kim Barker and Lonnie Barker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Bannertown Baptist Church by Rev. Mickey Cogdill. Entombment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, The Woltz Hospice Home and especially Dr. Gardner who was not only her physician but also a caring friend.
