Mrs. Georgia Louise Jessup Hill

Mrs. Georgia Louise Jessup Hill, age 83 of Ararat, VA passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice facility in Wilmington, NC. Mrs. Hill was born in Patrick County VA on July 14, 1931 to the late Charlie Reid and Eunice Symyra Jessup. She lived the life of a true Christian and it showed through her love and devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, and as a friend to many. She is survived by her two grandsons, Jerry Hall and Joey Hall and his wife Natalie; son-in-law, Sammy Hall and his wife Janet; a brother-in-law, L.C. Nunn; and two great-granddaughters, Maggie Hall and Addisyn Hall. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Powell Hill; her daughter, Norma Jean Hall; two sisters, Virginia "Jenny" Frances Jessup Nunn and Pauline Jessup Phipps-Evans. Mrs. Hill is survived by four very dear sisters-in-law; Mildred Marsh, Lori Hill, Nelda Fink and her husband, Jerry, and Bertie Guynn. There will be an informal graveside service at the Jessup Family Cemetery on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. and will be conducted by the Reverend Buford Jessup. Lou (also known as Granny) enjoyed nourishing us all with good food, encouragement, family times, and stories of days gone by. Her physical presence will surely be missed on this earth, but she had made a positive influence and difference to those that had the opportunity to spend time with her. She was also known as a respectable business woman throughout the community by always treating others with compassion and fairness. She will be remembered for being an unbelievably giving and caring lady, as well as many other wonderful qualities. One of which would be of her cooking, especially her cakes and pies. Lou was so many things to so many people, but she will always be remembered as Granny. Special appreciation goes to those who helped care for Granny over the past several months and a special heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers of Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC.
