Mrs. Gloria Jean "Jeannie" Simpson Atkins

Mrs. Gloria Jean "Jeannie" Simpson Atkins, 57, of 162 Marvin Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday night, August 21, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Atkins was born July 14, 1957, in Alexandria, VA, the daughter of the late Carroll Lee and Muriel Simpson. Jeannie was formerly employed at Woodwork Specialties. She is survived by her husband, Sammy Lee Atkins of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Tammy Atkins of Mount Airy, Sammy Lee Atkins, Jr. and Stacy Atkins of Illinois, and Jason and Lisa Atkins of Caroline County, VA; six grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Wayne Kerns of Concord; and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, David and Chrissy Simpson, Donald and Curtie Simpson, and Larry Simpson, all of Fredericksburg, VA, and Allen and Rhonda Simpson of Nelson County, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Lee Simpson, Jr. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 25, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Midkiff Cemetery.
