Mrs. Imo Jane Brooks Wimbley

Mrs. Imo Jane Brooks Wimbley, age 84 of Dobson passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Surry County on August 22, 1929 to the late William Calvin and Dorella Bolt Brooks. Mrs. Wimbley was a retired Certified Nurses Assistant from Surry Rest Home in Dobson, now known as Dunmore Plantation. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and David Hooker of Elkin and Mary and Larry Snow, of Dobson; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bill and Mary Wimbley of Elkin, Bobby Wimbley of Dobson and Sam and Lucille Wimbley of Lowgap; eight grandchildren and spouses, Cathy and Chad Schmidt of Raleigh, Christie Hooker of Elkin, Kevin and Melissa Hooker of Mount Airy, Angie and Jeff Tharpe of Dobson, Lori Collins of North Wilkesboro, Howard Wimbley of Elkin, Rick Wimbley of Greensboro and Leslie Wimbley of High Point; twelve great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Naomi Hawks of Advance. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wimbley was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Franklin Wimbley; a grandson, Sean Wimbley; a brother, Howard Brooks and four sisters, Ola Slate, Mary Lawson, Mae Jones and Ellen Wimbley. Funeral services will be held at 8 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Chaplain Stewart Rotten and Brother Mickey Brooks. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 6 pm until time theof the service. There will be a private family graveside service at the Central View Missionary Baptist Church cemetery on Sunday, February 2, 2014. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made, in her honor, to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving and compassionate care.
