Mrs. Iva Hylton Pendleton, age 100 of Stuart, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at Pioneer Community Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on November 16, 1913 to the late David Moses and Mamie Frances Rorrer Hylton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pendleton was preceded in death by her husband, Oren H. Pendleton; a son-in-law, Eugene Hubbard; a granddaughter, Brenda Kay Belcher; a great-grandson, Garvin Eugene Rhodes; two brothers, Garland Hylton and Claude Hylton; and a sister, Annie Hylton. She attended Mountain View United Methodist Church, and was devoted to watching Dr. Charles Stanley.
Mrs. Pendleton is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Glen Rorrer of Floyd, Elva and Marvin Belcher, and Lala Hubbard all of Meadows of Dan; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Irene Pendleton, Edward and Belle Pendleton, all of Stuart; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pendleton will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Terry Martin, Pastor Wayne Fulcher and Pastor Marcus Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and other times at the home of her son, David Pendleton.
