Mrs. Ivadell Mumpower Clifton

Mrs. Ivadell Mumpower Clifton, age 95, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on January 12, 2018 at Sovah Health Danville Hospital. She was born in Bristol, Virginia on December 5, 1922 to the late James E. Mumpower and Lizzie Mitchell Mumpower. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Burton Harvey Clifton; a granddaughter, Kelly Michele Evans; four sisters, Alice Ward, Virgie Brownloe, Rosalee Rose, and Hazel Witt; and a brother, Eugene Mumpower. Ivadell was a long time member of New Dan River Primitive Baptist Church, Vesta, VA, and had retired from Dan River Inc. after many years of service.
Mrs. Clifton is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Burton Wayne Clifton (Marsha) of Rogers, Arkansas and Kenneth Franklin Clifton (Linda) of Houston, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Clifton Evans (Fred) of Danville, Virginia; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Clifton will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart, Virginia with Elder Paul Hopkins officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Plasters’ Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, and at other times at her daughter’s home.
