Mrs. Jacqueline Jane Newman Smith, 86, of Woolwine, passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil W. Smith; her parents, Jesse and Adele Newman; and one brother, Wilfred Newman. She is survived by her four children, David Smith (Kimberly), Wayne Smith (Cindy), Lillian Smith, and Donna Neese (Jeffrey); four grandchildren, Clinton Smith, Lauren Jones, Corey Smith, and Brandon Neese; and three great-grandchildren, Bellamy and Rhett Smith and Bryn Jones.
Mrs. Smith was born on January 3, 1928 in Akron, Ohio. She lived in Akron and Barberton, Ohio, for many years until the family moved to Woolwine, Virginia in 1969. Mrs. Smith was a skilled seamstress and cook whose specialties included homemade biscuits and cobblers. She was devoted to her husband and family and served tirelessly without complaint to ensure their comfort. She was loved by many in the community for her sweet demeanor and kind words. She will be sorely missed.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery.
