Mrs. Janet H. Epperson

Mrs. Janet Horton Epperson, age 54 of Claudville, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County on April 24, 1959. She was preceded in death by a son, Elijah Gray Epperson; her father, Earnest William Horton; and three brothers, Gordon David Horton, Donnie Ray Horton, James ONeil Horton widowed by Winfred Gray Epperson and a life partner Timothy Allen Slate.
Mrs. Epperson is survived by four daughters, Crystal McBride, and her husband, Robert, of Claudville, Tina Bowman Stone of Collinsville, Covie Megan Lewis and husband, Jonathon, of Hampton; Whitney Slate of Chesterfield; two sons, Caleb Epperson of Ararat and Chris Slate of Mount Airy, North Carolina; seven grandchildren;Benjamen David Bowman, Morgan James Slate, Lee Samuel Dean Wood, Lily Ann Slate, Elijah Zane McBride, Peyton Joel McBride, Annabell Grace Epperson, her mother, Flossie Margaret Bowman Horton of Claudville; two sisters, Erlaine Watkins and her husband Frank of Burkeville and Kay Horton-Eustler and her husband Scott of Stuart; and two brothers, Bill Horton of Martinsville and Rodney Horton of Claudville and a very special sister-in law Dianne Beamer. Several nieces, nephews, and adopted children and family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Kevin Easter officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until time of the service.
