Mrs. Jessie Ruth Cooke Gammons

Mrs. Jessie Ruth Cooke Gammons, age 79, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Universal Health Care in King. Mrs. Gammons was born in Surry County on September 27, 1937, to Howard and Birchell Ward Cooke. She retired from the public-school system and was a member of New Charity Baptist Church. Among those who will always cherish her dear memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and David Stone, Amy and Mark Utt; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Tim and Sandy Gammons; grandchildren, Hannah Walker and husband Jordan, Seth Gammons and wife Megan, Matthew Utt, Holly Gammons, Andrew Utt, and Ashleigh Stone; great grandchildren, Asher Utt, Silas Walker, and Gentry Gammons; a sister and brother-in-law, Fairie and Joe Harrell; and many special friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gammons was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Gammons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 25, 2017, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tim Gammons, Rev. Mark Utt and Rev. Hank Robertson. Burial will follow in Westside Baptist Church Cemetery.
