Mrs. Joan Carolyn Campbell-Thompson, age 67 of Critz, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born in Martinsville on October 30, 1944 to the late Ralph A. and Ricie Wade Campbell. She had been an active member at Critz Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was the church media director, did the church bulletin for 7 years and was the photographer for church events. She was a general aviation pilot and a member of the Women's Aviation Club based out of southern California called the Ninety-Nines, she enjoyed scuba diving, photography, traveling, crafts, flower gardening and most of all family "get-togethers".
Mrs. Campbell-Thompson is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Ron Thompson of Critz; a son, Charles Anthony "Tony" Smith of Patrick Springs; a sister, Anita Eggleston of Martinsville; a brother, Rev. R. A. Campbell of Glenville, N.C. and several nieces & nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 21, 2012 at 2:00pm at Critz Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Hackler officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Critz Baptist Church Youth or to the Critz Baptist Church Prime Timers, P.O.
