Mrs. Josie Mae Towe Brannock, age 84, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Brannock was born in Carroll County on May 15, 1930 to Edwin and Susie Hiatt Towe. She was retired from Cross Creek Apparel after more than forty years of service and she also loved her part-time job at Food Lion. Mrs. Brannock will be remembered for the great love of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her love of gardening and her excellent cooking skills. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and R.L. Dowell of Cana, Shirley and Kenneth Davis of Dobson and Carolyn Edwards of Galax, a son Gene Brannock of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Michelle Allen and husband, Jeff, Bryan Brannock and wife, Amber, Cindy Brannock, Danielle Davis and Tiffany Davis; a step grandchild, Lynette Reynolds; great grandchildren, Savannah Brannock, Abbie Brannock and Jacob Brannock; sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy and John Cranford of Winston-Salem and Pat Jones of Cana and a brother and sister-in-law, Lynwood and Effie Towe of Cana. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brannock was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Brannock, sisters, Mabeline Jones and Christine Marsh, a brother, Eugene Towe and a daughter-in-law, Linda Sue Brannock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 3, 2014 Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ernie Smith and Ferris Simpson. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd.
