Mrs. Josie "Ellen" Pedigo Smith

Mrs. Josie “Ellen” Pedigo Smith, age 83 of Cana, VA, passed away Wednesday, October 07, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Smith was born in Patrick County on September 15, 1932 to Joe and Bessie Noah Pedigo. She retired from Proctor Silex and was the Co-Owner/Operator of Smith Grocery. Mrs. Smith will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends. Surviving are a daughter, Kim Hall; sons and daughters-in-law, Nelson and Janie Dawson, Ted and Debbie Dawson and Mark Smith; twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie Pedigo, Cornelia and Jason Brinkley, Carol Miller, Margaret Fleming and Virginia and Albert Cockerham and by sisters-in-law, Nancy Pedigo and Arlene Pedigo. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by husbands, T. R. McGee and Bill Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Viola “Porky” and Tim Jones; a son, Carl Smith and brothers, Mack, Butch and Auburn Pedigo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 9, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Gary Easter and Rev. Israel Easter. Burial will follow in the Pedigo Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at noon. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Twin County for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Smith.
