Mrs. Joyce Love Maness

Mrs. Joyce Love Maness, age 97 went to be with the Lord and to join her family and friends in Heaven on Saturday, March 1, 2014. She and her husband, C. Edwin "Ed" Maness, made their home in Stuart, Virginia for about 60 years. Because of failing health, Joyce had lived the past two years in the Yadkin Nursing Center in Yadkinville, North Carolina. She was born Virginia Joyce Love on June 17, 1916 in Gretna, Virginia to William Daniel Love and Lillian Reynolds Love and had four brothers. Her husband, Ed, her parents, and her four brothers, Ryland, Clifford, Harold and Dan Love, preceded her in death. Joyce was a Registerd Nurse and a graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Danville, Virginia. She, however, spent most of her time being a loving homemaker, wife and mother. She was a faithful member of Stuart United Methodist Church while she was able to attend.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jane and Jim Gruver of Rocky Mount, Peggy and Philip Beavers of Yadkinville, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Kevin Gruver, Jonathan Gruver, Joel Gruver, Joanna Hudzik and husband, Mark, Julie Kirkland and husband, Ben, Tamara Cislo and husband, Scott, Daniel Beavers and wife, Kristen, Jennifer Bland, and husband Joseph, Mark Beavers and wife, Becca; five great-grandchildren, Isabelle Bland, Caedon Bland, Madeline Beavers, Isaac Beavers and Claire Cislo.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Dr. Philip Beavers officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and also from 1:00 until 2:00 on Friday at the funeral home. Joyce loved cats and is also survived by her cat Mooy. For this reason, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Yadkin County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1652, Yadkinville, North Carolina 27055. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Yadkinville Nursing Center for the kind, considerate and loving care given to Joyce over the past few years.
