Mrs. Joye Fay Bobbitt Newsome

Mrs. Joye Fay Bobbitt Newsome, 80, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at her home. She was born in Carroll County on April 7, 1935 to the late, Arlos and Lora Frost Bobbitt. Mrs. Newsome retired after 50 years as a hairdresser, and was a member of Union Hill Friends Meeting. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Herman Vaughn of Mt. Airy; sons, Ken Newsome and Kevin and Leslie Newsome all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren and spouses, Chris Mauldin and Misti, Kendra Mauldin and fiancé Jerry Matthews, Kimberly Gates and Chad, Keisha Johnston and Brian, Keevie Wilmoth and Alex, Klay Newsome, Katey Newsome, Jordan Newsome, Seth Newsome, Cameron Marshall, Aaron Marshall, Shelly Taylor, and fiancé Todd Smith , Amanda Adams and Matt; great grandchildren, Cole Mauldin, Carson Mauldin, Mason Taylor, Maggie Taylor, Meg Adams, Jonah Adams, Tre Gates, Gracie Ray Gates; sisters, Gay Jones, and Ann Willard; a sister-in-law, Peggy Bobbitt. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newsome was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Harrison Newsome; a brother, Dean Bobbitt. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Union Hill Friends Meeting with Pastor Nate Watts officiating. Burial will be private in Skyline memory Gardens.
